Geocaching LPC Tour Day 3

On the third day of our Geocaching Tour, we got together our gear and left for the north of Berlin - the Caches “Heilstätte Grabowsee” and “VEB Backwarenkombinat” were the last two targets of the tour.

The Sanatorium Grabowsee was build in the beginning of the 20th century. Until the 2nd world war it was used as a lung-sanatorium for the state of Brandenburg, after the war as a sanatorium for the sovijet army in Germany. The sanatorium has been abandoned 11 years ago and is slowly rotting away since then. The remote location and the decadent charme of the decaying turn-of-the-century-archtitecture add to the special feel of the cache. It is well made and not easy. Even though we struggled at one stage (the lift), we refrained from using a telephone jocker - as we call phonecalls to cachers that have already found the cache.

After having a strange encounter with a so called “Jagdtwächter” we could infiltrate the grounds of the former GDR industrial backery (“VEB Backwarenkombinat”) unnoticed. The cache was well made and quickly found. A great end of a great tour!
